I can't stand Whedon's dialogue. Real people do not speak like that. Also like nearly all of his characters have exactly the same type of humor and use the same kind of wit and it gets even more impossible to believe.

Yeah, honestly, I hate to say it but his schtick is starting to get a little old for me.

Agreed. But man, he was a rock star once. I thought Xander, Willow, and Oz were amazing, I so wanted friends in high school who were that clever and funny and up with pop culture references.

The thing is pop culture and quick comebacks and whatever work for caricatures of high school kids. It's when you make everybody's wit sound like a ~high school cool kid~ from the 90s, it starts getting really stupid.

Thirding. I like realistic dialogue more than I like jokes, thanks, and not everyone has a witty line ready. I like to think Whedon is a quip-aholic.

I speak like Rupert Giles quite a lot, actually.
