When I was twelve, I wanted to have two daughters and name them Raven and Sakura =/ This was when I hadn't heard the word "sakura" outside of the Cardcaptor Sakura English dub, which did not pronounce it right. And we're not even going to discuss the name Raven.

I'd really like to name a hypothetical son Raphael, but it's such a serious name.

You could nickname him Rafe, that's not too serious ^^

I could, but then I'd run into the very severe problem of, whenever referring to him by name, going, "Rafe... riff raff... street rat! I don't buy that, if only they'd look closer!"

"Mom, it's not even pronounced like that. It's Ray-fe."

"Well that just doesn't make sense."

My husband's parents couldn't agree between Raphael and Rolf so they named him Ralph. One pronounces it like Rafe and the other like Ralf, but he goes by Mike.
