I agree with everyone who's saying "go read the transcripts," but if you really want some way to not zone out on the actual podcast, have you tried listening while doing something else? I get super bored with most audio unless I'm either driving or doing a sudoku or actively eating dinner or something else low-brainpower. Paradoxially, it actually helps me focus more on the podcast than when I'm just sitting there listening.

Exact opposite here. I've never listened to podcasts, but if I'm, say, trying to pay attention to the lyrics of a new song and working on another task at the same time, I retain zip.

That's why I said it had to be a low-brainpower task--anything more mentally involved than washing dishes also leads to no retention for me. Happily, I've got a 20-minute commute that I could do in my sleep, so that's the perfect time for me to listen to podcasts!

I like to do puzzles on jigzone while listening, I tend to zone out if I'm working on pictures or browsing the net so it's perfect to just do puzzle pieces.

Anyway, the transcripts are there for a reason. I had a hard time with the first episode of WTNV, didn't really like the guy who reads it, it was "too quirky, too amazing, too hyped"? But then it grew on me and I love it now. Just wish it came out more often!
