...redheads suffer discrimination now? Like, actual discrimination? O_o

Can someone please direct me to some examples of people being discriminated against for having red hair? Clearly, I'm very oblivious and/or possibly living in an alternate reality because I've never heard of this.

mostly verbal abuse and assaults. haven't heard of anybody being denied a job or medical needs or anything bc of red hair.

No, neither have I. But the rate of violence in the UK toward redheads is... a little scary as one myself.
And it is something that has been looked at as a potential hate crime. That's not to say it's on the same level as racial or homophobic things but its something to keep in mind.

Happened to me a lot as a kid in the UK, less so as an adult in the UK, not at all elsewhere (yet).

I recall a news article about a family that'd had to move twice because their kids were getting so much harassment and bullying about being redheads.
