No, misogynist themes can totally make people misogynist. Games aren't a special type of media that doesn't affect people just because you enjoy them so much.

It's just that this idiot's boyfriend is an adult with the right to play what he wants.

Oh, I actually agree - games with strong misogynistic tendencies can possibly make people more misogynist. What I mean is that it's bullshit to say that they always do. Just because a game is problematic, it doesn't mean someone who plays it will always go and adopt the problematic bits as their new dogma. And most of all, their are almost never the sole reason anyone ever does/says problematic shit.
Just because any kind of media has problematic parts doesn't mean that, just because you enjoy it as a whole, you wholeheartedly endorse those parts.
