When I had just started on the internet, I thought that everyone typed in all lowercase with no punctuation, and that if you did otherwise you would be looked down on. Not necessarily a bad thing, but a bit of a wasted opportunity (just think: I could have been an 8-year-old using proper grammar in chat rooms!).
