Actually, it sounded more to me like one of the authors who doesn't tag, and is getting shit for not tagging/warning. While I wouldn't have been so hostile, I do agree that, if you read a work labelled 'author has chosen not to use archive warnings', you should consider that a valid warning for any squicks and triggers you may have, and avoid the work accordingly if need be.
