"Tiger and Bunny will totally have to get married"? Did I miss something? (I only watched the original series, but I didn't interpret this as a slashbait show--it was more of a buddy comedy.)

it's absolutely slashbait, and the fandom is 101% comprised of slash fans.

It wasn't intended to appeal to slash fans (if I'm remembering correctly) but it ridiculously did, and that was most of the fandom participants. :)

They had Bunny bridal carry Tiger in the first episode. I'm extremely skeptical about that "wasn't intended" part.

Ozaki once said that it's pretty much open to interpretation whether Kotetsu and Barnaby's relationship is a romance, and the ambiguity has been intentional from the start. SO THERE. XD

I thought the slash was on purpose on this one, honestly... in the last episodes Bunny looks like he will die if he can't have Kotetsu back in his life! I get it's mostly one sided in this sense, but it's THERE. And Kotetsu might be oblivious to everything and mostly worried about his daughter, but he really loves Bunny too. I don't know, they looked pretty much in platonic love by the end of the show.

'You have pretty long eyelashes' sure were some loaded 'last words'. ;)

This show was just perfect, and I'm not even that much into anime. The writing had some highs and lows IMO, but the highs undoubtedly made up for the lows. I think Barnaby was one of the most cliched characters ever (see: Batman), but when his arc changed direction it was pretty unexpected the way he evolved.

The very thing i hated the most was probably the cheesy opera music when Barnaby was having one of his breakdowns, ALWAYS THE SAME FUCKING NOTES JESUS CHRIST JUST CHANGE IT ALREADY (and the OST in general sucked), but asides from that I loved the characters. Karina turned out to be one of my abs fav, to my absolute surprise (anime girls usually have characterizations and mannerisms that turn me off completely).

AND KOTETSU IS TOO MUCH. From the wardrobe to the voice to the lonely dad status to the 'i'm a failure but i can be a bad ass when you least expect it' to the 'oh okay my new partner hates me who cares i'm just going to wear him down with my obnoxiousness' to the 'i'm completely oblivious to anyone having feelings for me'.

Oh, and I think one of the most unexpected scenes was his and Nathan's adorable dialogue after he got out of the car, where Nathan jokingly (but yeah, not all that much from what you see later) proposed to sleep over for comfort. It was so casual and touching at the same time, I think it's one of the things that will stay with me for a long time. :D

Oh gosh, yes to that last part. I love the fact that they had a (literally) flaming gay character, who was also totally kick-butt despite flouncing around in pink and feathers, who flirts shamelessly with his (presumably) straight friends WHO FLIRT BACK PLAYFULLY because they're not threatened. (As for Antonio, methinks he doth protest too much. XD)

But yeah, that scene made me love Kotetsu even more, and from the very first episode where you see him stumbling over empty booze bottles in his bachelor pad to dorkily answer the phone and talk to his kid, I was like "Oh guh. He's one of mine, isn't he?"

This show... I mean objectively I know it's not "perfect", there are a few things here and there that bugged me, but... it's hard to say how.

AHAHA YES OMG, I also remember when Nathan was later flirting with Barnaby and completely acting like he wasn't giving a damn about Kotetsu and Kotetsu casually went like, 'oh right? weren't you the one offering to sleep with me just the other night?'. That exchange was ridiculous, LOL. Loved it.

Antonio is another one. I also remember that scene when Kotetsu and Barnaby were about to dance on stage with Karina (and OMG THAT PART, WHY) and Antonio was there too and Kotetsu was basically asking him what the hell he was doing here and why the fuck wasn't he going home already and Antonio was like, 'DAMMIT I'M HERE TO SEE YOU DANCE'. Just too cute.

Far from perfect is what I'd describe it, but Kotetsu simply made up for everything and kind of balanced out all the other characters. Taken on their own probably I wouldn't have liked the others as much, but all the individual interactions were a thing of beauty indeed. Tbh all the Kaburagi family was pretty awesome... his mum talking to the plants and his brother were adorable.

Antonio broke my heart all the time. Constantly failing at everything and getting turned down when he wanted to drink with his buddy and sitting alone at the bar.
