I don't think I've ever been as active in a fandom as I was in Tiger & Bunny, so yeah, I miss it too! ;_;

(Anonymous) 2013-10-06 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I still remember T&B and I'm looking forward for the next movie (but I would really prefer a second season).

(Anonymous) 2013-10-06 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I still wish there was more love in the fandom for the other characters - it's not absolutely everything about T&B, but it's still the biggest part.

(I'd also love for Nathan and Yuri to be a bit more present~)

(Anonymous) 2013-10-07 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
I remember when I first watched Tiger & Bunny...

"Nathan/Antonio! Funnest pairing ever! Now let's go check out the fandom and read all the awesome... Nathan/Antonio... fic???? No? Nothing? Awwww..."

The fandom just wasn't as much fun when you didn't like Barnaby/Kotetsu. I understand that it was awesome for fans of the pairing, but I really wish there had been more variety.

I love that show and wish there would be more. I'm also sad it never found a place on Toonami or something so that there would be a bigger English-language audience :( It deserved better!

...and now I want fried rice :P

I LEARNED TO COOK FRIED RICE FOR YOU KOTETSU-SAN SO YOU CAN'T DIE YET. <3

"Tiger and Bunny will totally have to get married"? Did I miss something? (I only watched the original series, but I didn't interpret this as a slashbait show--it was more of a buddy comedy.)

(Anonymous) 2013-10-06 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
it's absolutely slashbait, and the fandom is 101% comprised of slash fans.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-06 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't intended to appeal to slash fans (if I'm remembering correctly) but it ridiculously did, and that was most of the fandom participants. :)

I thought the slash was on purpose on this one, honestly... in the last episodes Bunny looks like he will die if he can't have Kotetsu back in his life! I get it's mostly one sided in this sense, but it's THERE. And Kotetsu might be oblivious to everything and mostly worried about his daughter, but he really loves Bunny too. I don't know, they looked pretty much in platonic love by the end of the show.

'You have pretty long eyelashes' sure were some loaded 'last words'. ;)

TIGER AND BUNNY SECRET YESSS

At the moment there's the second movie Rising due out in Japan in February (no news yet on a localisation though).

And yes, T+B is so under-rated it's criminal.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-06 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The second movie is scheduled to be released on February the 8th of next year (there's also been talk regarding the possibility of US screenings)! There are still pockets of dedicated fans out there if you look hard enough :D

(Anonymous) 2013-10-06 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
My love for that shows knows no bounds, but I'm not surprised the fandom is kind of slow. I think it was one of those fandoms that was really negatively impacted by Tumblr; almost all of the fandom activity consisted of reblogged art (usually from non-English sources like Pixiv, so a lot of the links ended up broken as well) and very little creation or discussion. As someone who is in fandom mostly for the fic, it was pretty disappointing.

pantswarrior: Tiger and Barnaby fight back to back. (t&b)

[personal profile] pantswarrior 2013-10-06 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Fandom is still going, just in small pockets rather than one big central place. I still geek out over it with my con friends in person and on Facebook when not at cons. Some friends of mine are even running a Tiger and Bunny panel at Youmacon and have okayed me to crash it in my Lunatic cosplay and troll them mercilessly. :D

Ozaki was at Otakon, too, and there were a lot of T&B fans in attendance at his panels. The movie may or may not get a release in the US aside from west coast - he said they would be interested in doing an east coast release too, if people let Sunrise know that there was a market for it... Doesn't help me any, since I'm in the midwest, but hey. More exposure.

The photoshoot at Otakon was pretty epic too. While checking Streetpass tags while waiting for it to start, a bunch of other cosplayers were like "Oh yeah, Streetpass" and thus I inadvertently prompted some pics that involved several Kotetsus all playing 3DS... XD We had SO many variant outfits, plus some hero suits, it was amazing.

The movie is coming out in Japan next February. I was amused by the T&B characters nominated for Yuletide this year. Someone is missing.

I don't know why T&B fandom was such a flash in the pan. Tumblr's short attention span, writers trying to sell fanfic, doujinshi reselling taking over the T&B LJ comm, and something else? There must have been some other reason.

I stopped writing T&B fic because no one was reading it, which was something I expected when writing Yuri/Barnaby, but it turns out not many people were reading gen either.

No, you aren't the only one! I've been doing a rewatch and it's just as delightful, surprisingly moving and adorable as the first time. I haven't watched a TON of anime, but it is definitely one of my favorites, if not my favorite. It's just a solid, fun anime; I totes want the continuation as well and can't wait to see what happens with all the characters!

NGL, I watched it partially because I heard about how slashy it was and it did NOT disappoint. And Kotetsu man, who doesn't love him? He's one of the most refreshing, lovable characters. (Not even in just this series, just...in general. I love him and everything about this show.)

We need itttttttt.

I was thinking about getting into this recently. It looks cute and I read some sweet doujinshi from Sanami Matoh about the chars so....motivation.

I'm really hoping the next movie breathes some life into the fandom again; it looks like it could be super-awesome and angsty. It was disappointing that that didn't seem to happen with The Beginning, but it's kind of understandable since there was hardly any new story to work with or talk about there.

Of course this is one fandom where I have a huge conflict with not being sure there's much more of a story to tell about the two main characters without being untrue to who they are but also desperately wanting more even if what we get is mediocre.

Of course the 2nd movie is still coming out. If you were such a big fan, surely you would've at least try googling once?

I loved this series, and I'm really looking forward to the new movie (also fearing it since I'm scared of my favorite characters dying and/or my one ship being sunk).

I never did get into the fandom, though, since I'm not interested in Barnaby/Kotetsu romance or porn at all, and that's pretty much all the fandom is (or was, has it died?). I tried for a while, but it bored me to tears.

But if Tiger and Bunny got married, their relationship wouldn't be open to interpretation anymore. :(

Also, Tiger would look ridiculous in a wedding dress.

It's a rare anomaly for the most dedicated and lasting fanbase forming around 4chan threads, but this is exactly what happened in this case. There is always an archive thread going on updated with new information. Manga is being translated and scanlated by anons, light novel has been in large parts translated by anons as well, same for magazine scans and online interviews. Discussion is still going on, be it /a/ or /m/. This is the current main thread http://archive.foolz.us/a/thread/81101385 several others (one currently ongoing live) are linked to it, so feel free in joining the discussion and politely shared T&B love.

Well, I can say that the Japanese fanbase has faded substantially. I was in Mandarake last week and saddened to see all the wonderful T&B doujinshi moved to a back shelf: much of it marked down to 105 yen.
