Might you, perhaps, be confusing the Navy Yard shooter (a man) with the woman who ran her car into barricades and police cruisers near the White House and Capitol building (who did not shoot anyone)?

I never heard anyone in the media saying it had to be a white man. The fact that it was a woman was reported right away.

Yeah, all the debate I saw (soemtimes removed entirely from race) is if they should have shot at her or not.

Which for the record I think was absolutely the right call. Once you go at cops with a lethal weapon (and tons of moving steel sure as hell counts) I do not expect them to come at her with anything less. Unless she was putting hands behind her head and lying down, I'd assume they were in the right in any scenario irregardless of race or who was in the car.

I agree. I feel bad about this happening to her since it does seem she was not in her right mind and possibly didn't intend harm at all, but what the hell else were the cops supposed to do?

I'll be the first to admit that cops have used lethal force where it isn't justified and race factors into that big-time but this... just doesn't seem like an example to me.
