My secret: I kinda am amazed in a bad way that grown adults play click "games" like this. It's not even a real game, it's just... spam. I get the appeal of wanting to raise a dragon, but it just isn't a game.

I assume with clicky games part of the appeal to adults is there's so little time investment. (I know I don't really have time to play games anymore.)

It isn't just spam on the player's end- there's a certain amount of skill and competition involved in acquiring the rarer dragons, there's breeding (including the potential for hybrid dragons which can't be caught in the wild), there's trading between users, etc... Even the posting of eggs and hatchlings involves a bit of management because the rate and timing of views needs to fall within certain ranges at certain points in their lifecycle so that they don't either starve to death from too few or sicken from too many.

It may not be your style of game but there are legitimate game elements involved.

it's not intended to be a 'game' in the sense of a pet raising sim.

you just collect the dragons the way you would collect dolls or trading cards or stamps. they're there to look pretty, that's the point.
