It's kind of silly, but it manages to keep the right balance between not taking itself too seriously and allowing the characters to be very human and have very human relationships. Like, George Washington's Ancient Order to Protect from Evil and whatever, but Abbie's relationship with the Sheriff, and with her sister, are amazingly poignant.

(I wasn't a huge fan of how some stuff developed in the third episode, but otherwise it's pretty solidly great).
