OMG OP this sounds awful. I just cannot stand bashing. It's either pathetic or downright cruel. Maybe some of it is because I don't see the point of reacting to a character I don't like with bashing.

I'd much rather crack them open and try to figure out how they tick as a character , maybe in a psychoanalyzation and come up with headcanons for them. Or otherwise just ignore them if they don't interest me. But bashing just.....what a waste.

If I can tell who a person hates just by reading their fic, then there's a bit of a problem. and trust me I can tell "this person HATES this character" from "this person is showing the character's flaws" It's really apparent. The characters are not puppets, and they shouldn't be mouthpeices for the authors opinion.

I read fic to read about characters I love, not an author tract on the author's opinion of "why this characters sucks and should just GO AWAY!11!!!"

Um, sorry but if simply criticizing OOCness and poor writing is 'bashing' an author...um it sounds more like the author who has a problem. We're not calling her gross names and stuff. We're (or at least I'm) saying that people prefer fics that are in character. Also having a bunch of characters badmouth a character the author hates is childish. Reading that kind of stuff is alienating and highly irritating.

Sorry, but it is just criticism.
