Re: Recovery after illness?

The first time I had a grand mal seizure (that I'm aware of), I was quite tired and sore for several days -- I'm not surprised you're still feeling crappy. Taking a day off and sleeping is not only okay, but probably a good idea if you can.

I've had a few more grand mal seizures I'm aware of (and, according to a housemate who could hear my seizing in my sleep, a fair number I'm not aware of) and the aftermath has gotten easier.

Replenishing your electrolytes, if you haven't done so, will help. (So Gatorade, bananas, coconut juice, anything with potassium and sugar.) When I was unmedicated I used to keep a bottle of Gatorade by my bed and drank some if I woke up feeling iffy.

OP

Thank you for the advice, this is great stuff. My doctor told me to drink a lot of water, but she didn't mention electrolytes. It makes sense, if my body was getting overtaxed during the seizure.

And thank you for letting me know this is standard after a seizure, it eases my mind about taking a day off. I'll definitely grab some electrolyte drinks.
