Most people admit that there is romantic/sexual tension between them and that if Castiel was female, Dean/Cas would have happened seasons ago.

But if you think that Dean/Cas, as it is, with Castiel in a male vessel, is going to become canon, you ARE delusional. Because Supernatural will never make one of its two main characters canonically bisexual, no matter how much they've hinted at Dean being bi in the past.

What hints?

All I've seen is:

Flashbacks to Young!Dean happily banging his way through the pep squad in high school.

Dean looking at girlie magazines.

Dean banging chicks.

Dean hitting on chicks.

Dean falling in love with women.

Dean living with a woman.

Last, but not least, Dean fantasizing about women.

Nope, don't see either wincest or destiel.

If Castiel had been female, then yes, Dean might have slept with Castiel. That's the only part of the equation that works, though. Next thing that would happen is the fanbase would have got into a batshit tizzy ("why is Dean with female!Cas when he has so much more chemistry with Benny?!?"), and then next thing you know, female!Cas would be killed off and written out (same as Anna).
