I don't see why their relationship necessarily has to be homoromantic. I mean, sure, you could interpret it that way, but they could also just be friends.

I ship Destiel, don't get me wrong. But JFC, men can have super close relationships without being romatically involved. This is why I am not bothered by people who don't see any slash.

OK, I'm not in this fandom so I could be missing something here, but I do think there are a lot of ships that are only considered "delusional" because both characters are the same sex, even though if one of them was the opposite gender the ship would probably already be canon. In that sense, it is somewhat unfair to accuse anyone who sees homoerotic subtext being "delusional". (Although on the other hand it is also unlikely for homoerotic subtext to turn into canon gay pairings, which is unfortunate, but no amount of tinhatting will change that fact.)

It's like that because the writers are queer-baiting the fan base, and having a marvelous time of it. And the rest of the TV show writers have conditioned us all that a woman and a man with this kind of relationship are automatically a romantic pairing and then they act surprised when people make the same assumption now that same gender relationships aren't considered such a far fetched option.

I think that, honestly, at this point, you'd have to argue pretty strong to say that there isn't *anything* being hinted at there. (Not that I think it'll ever go canon, I just think that tptb queer-bait like mad.)

But, seriously, Destiel shippers better hope it never goes canon, because if it does, one side of the pairing is going to bite it, and it ain't gonna be Dean. Like, rule one of SPN is that no one is allowed to be in a happy relationship.

Why can't you folks chill out and recognize that their relationship isn't all magic and sunshine and butterflies? Castiel has done so much fucked up crap to Dean (and Sam!, who is the single most important part of Dean's life), that it's amazing that you folks manage to blank that out of your minds. And Dean, is no better, because he just uses Cas when he wants something.

Sometimes, I think that Destiel fans' minds are, in many ways, too limited to retain all of the show's canon at one time. I don't think that I'd be so irritated by Destiel fans if 1) they'd acknowledge that Cas and Dean aren't these blameless woobies that are perfect soul mates omg forever! (that would be Dean and Sam, tyvm) and 2) stopped trying to make everything about their damned pairing.
