It's like that because the writers are queer-baiting the fan base, and having a marvelous time of it. And the rest of the TV show writers have conditioned us all that a woman and a man with this kind of relationship are automatically a romantic pairing and then they act surprised when people make the same assumption now that same gender relationships aren't considered such a far fetched option.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-08 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
And the queer-baiting is only getting stronger.

I mean (TINY POTENTIAL SPOILERS I GUESS MAYBE, OKAY???), they have romantic guitar music playing during Dean's latest Cas prayer. Like, super romantic. Like, the lyrics actually talk about LOVING THE OTHER PERSON. Uh. Huh.

I don't watch the show as anymore than a silly fluff thing and try to avoid pairings but even I can see that the show runners are pretty much bastards with the 'teasing'

Won't we all be surprised if they do make it canon?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-08 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It would probably be the most unexpected thing I ever saw on the show.

Omfg. That scene. REALLY?! REALLLY?!?!? The queer-baiting is so strong that if they actually became a canon couple (or, even just kissed) I don't think I'd believe it unless someone else backed me up on what I saw.

god forbid they sing a song with ROMANTIC LYRICS

when was the last time you listened to music

almost every single song in existence is a love song unless it's weird indie shit, lyricless, or creepy.

When's the last time you listened to music? Because I listen to music like 60% of the day and there are plenty of songs not about love.

Yeah, for real. Off the top of my head I can even think of '90s boy band songs that aren't love songs.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-09 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
No no, all songs are about love, it's just written between the lines! *issues challenge*

What, like you want me to say a song that's not about love, and then you try to prove it is?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-09 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes, yes!

Does it have to be a '90s boy band song? Have I painted myself into a corner?

If not, try March of Cambreadth.

It's a song about really, really manly love! Fight means Make Love, Force means Sexual Attraction, Death is Orgasm, Raise the Flag is Ejaculation, Blood is Sperm, etc. It's a song about a huge-ass male orgy, just wrapped so tender souls wont get embarrassed. Keep the translation close-by when you watch it, and you'll see the pieces fall into place.

I love you.

...Beautiful. I'll never hear that song the same way again.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-09 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Example: "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life"
- Interpretation: what IS the bright side of life? -> LOVE!
- Smutty interpretation: what is big, bright and shiny? The moon! Which again makes you think of BUTT. It is totally a song about SEX!

Second example: "Never Gonna Give You Up"
- Easy peasy: makes you think of rolling, which everyone knows is a synonym for making sweet, sweet love.

--- Fixed!

...But "Never Gonna Give You Up" is already a love song...? I'm confused.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-09 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Do not be confused, be serious! Very serious; this is the Internet and we're on an SPN thread, after all.

+1

(Anonymous) 2013-10-09 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
OT- Doesn't the term 'queerbaiting' imply (generally falsely) that you, the 'queer' faction of fandom, are being baited (to watch the program) with false promise of same sex content? I hate seeing that term used in that context because that's what I get from it.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-10 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
THIS. I ship Dean/Cas and would love to see it be canon. I think that with the basis for it they've laid in the show, it COULD. But I know that it won't because I don't expect that from this show. Therefore, all that "basis" that they've lain is just queerbaiting. It's all it is. It is NOT just delusional fangirls seeing what they want to see because it's right there. It IS intentional, they're doing it to get more viewers, and they have NO intention of following through. It's frustrating as fuck.
