Who are these people?

Short story: It's complicated

The woman in both pictures is Victoria Grayson and the other two are Daniel and Charlotte, her children. Victoria once helped cover up a tragedy (commercial plane exploded in-flight, killing all the passengers) by helping frame her lover and had said lover's daughter (7) institutionalized. Also, Charlotte's only Daniel's half-brother, her real father was the lover.

Victoria tries to protect her children from the evil organization that's actually responsible for the plane crash (and a couple other things), but she will literally walk over bodies to do so. Also, she tried to (non-lethally) get rid of Daniel's ex-fiancee, who is not-so-incidentally the child of her lover who has come back under a new name to get her revenge on the people that framed her father and uses Daniel to get close to Victoria and her husband (he was the one who got the Graysons into the mess with the evil organization).

I think the issue here is that being told that someone did awful things all for you not only makes a shitty justification (well, if we're talking specifically about Victoria), but it also shifts the blame partly onto you. I love my mother, but I would hate to hear her tell me she was accomplice to/engineered a tragedy with a body count and then institutionalized a little girl for me. I would feel worse about it than if she hadn't done those things.

Plus Victoria often identifies threats to her children that are no such thing, like Declan. Her kids are grown up and she still tries to manipulate their lives as she sees fit.

Victoria may love her kids but her relationship with them is emotionally abusive and extremely toxic.

The best thing Daniel and Charlotte could do would be to get as far away from her and conrad as possible.

Not everyone. Declan, Nolan, Charlotte and Jack are all pretty much innocent of foul play. Emily and Nolan are guilty of wrong doing but they're the 'good guys' so, you know, it's more gray than black and white.
