Nostalgia!

[personal profile] shortysc22 2013-10-10 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I got netflix a few weeks ago and have been watching random shows. This week I have decided to rewatch Digimon, which came out when I was a kid. I feel really nostalgic and like a little kid as I watch it again.

What are some shows that when you rewatch make you feel nostalgic?

Roseanne and Twilight Zone. :D For kid shows, Dragon Ball Z and Rugrats.

When I watch Big Bang Theory, certain episodes always take me back to Roseanne.

Rugrats was another classic. We used to look forward to the explanations of every holiday.

Old episodes of Arthur. They have a few of the new seasons on Netflix, but it's not the same.

oh Arthur! I used to watch that all the time. My mom used to read me the books before I even watched the TV show.

I feel like the show got stranger in the newer seasons.

Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine.

Love those shows.

I'm currently re-watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch and it's kind of making me feel like a kid again.

Did you ever watch the cartoon? I found the live action and the cartoon to be very different, considering they were based on the same comic.

I loved the first few seasons of the live action, when she went off to college, I stopped watching.

I caught bits and pieces of the cartoon but I never watched it all the way through.

The seasons where she's in High School are the best, I stuck it out till the end but the last couple of seasons really aren't as good. Also I was bitter that in the last season Hilda and Zelda were gone.

Really, really old stuff like the original George of the Jungle. But it's not always easy to find so I don't end up seeing it much.

(And a lot of old shows really make me wince when I try to watch them. I tried watching Land of the Lost and thought "Why the hell did I ever like this?" And I wasn't even that little when it was on.)

I feel that way about certain shows or even books. Especially anime/manga, where I have to take a double take and go, "really? I loved THIS?"

Old, old, old seasons of The Simpsons. I was a weird kid >>;;; I remember being 6 or 7 years old and staying up 'till midnight on fridays to catch an episode.

When I was little (same age, 6-8), we had a black and white TV in our kitchen, and we used to watch The Simpsons during dinner time because it was the only channel we got on that TV. Probably explains a lot haha.

I don't really have any show like that, maybe Power Rangers.

You know they have both the American dub and a subtitled Japanese original for Digimon on there, right?

I did not know they have both! How can I view the subtitled? Then again, it might be read watching it subtitled, I was never able to watch Sailor Moon subtitled because I was so used to the English.

Designing Women and Golden Girls remind me of sick days in elementary school.

Tonight, I watched two episodes of Big Time Rush for the first time in a while.

It's not "little kid" nostalgia, but Big Time Rush takes me back to my senior year of high school and I just associate it with really great memories from that time.

That's understandable. When I rewatch Everwood or One Tree Hill I think of my friends I used to watch them with in college.

That's what I said......three weeks ago. It has I think just the first two seasons, but really that's all that matters.
