Re: tw rape, csa -- what do you do when someone in a dw comm admits to that?

Calling the cops wouldn't do jack. For one, you don't know where he is, by your own admission, so calling them where he is isn't an option and...well. It's out of your local police's jurisdiction so there's not much they can do with it [doubly so since they don't even know where they'd send the case to - if they'd even do that.]

Also, saying "They said this online!" is a pretty weak claim anyways, tbh, and the fact it was - chances are - years ago, it might very well be past the statue of limitations for where he's from.

tl;dr: Calling the cops wouldn't do anything, even if it would saying "Someone said this online!" is a very, very weak claim unless you've got further proof.

I thought there was no statute of limitations on criminal acts?

I don't know about limitations when the abuser admits to something in the past but there is a limit on how long a victim can delay pressing charges on them in certain cases.

for abuse victims, there is a term called date of discovery. The last time I looked at it, a victim had 2 years to report abuse from the moment they were aware of the abuse. This takes into account repressed memory as well as issues of dependence. The 2 yrs could be extended if the victim was completely dependent upon the abuser for their livelihood or support during the 2 yrs after the date of discovery.

Of course that was a while ago. Things may have changed since then and I'm thinking it was a (US) state limitation and could vary depending on where the offense occurred. That was the reason we didn't pursue; we could have afforded the travel to the state where it happened and couldn't file locally, despite the fact that everyone was local to us at the date of discovery.

Well, in Ireland it applies to civil cases
