Really depends on what you do with it, imo. Believing that life is always preferable to death is one thing, but believing that some lives are more valuable than others (which is something pro-life advocates generally do) is something else entirely.

....this 'some lives are more important than others' thing mystifies me. I've never, ever heard a pro-life person accused of that

Really? So you've never heard of the many cases where a woman is forced to endure pregnancy at the expense of her health, even when her life is in danger? Seems like the fetus was valued more highly than the woman's life in those cases.

Plus, most of the pro-life crowd seems to be very interested in fetuses, but less interested in supporting programs that help those kids, or single mothers, or even supporting sex ed or distribution of contraceptives. But that hypocrisy is maybe going on a tangent.

Heh, not to mention the pro-lifers who also support the death penalty.

Right?!

DA

Pregnancy and childbirth carry a non-negligible risk of death, even in technologically-advanced countries and for healthy women. In addition, many women are not completely healthy, and have conditions that make pregnancy and childbirth dangerous to their life and health. "Pro-life" advocates want to remove the option that these women have of terminating an accidental or otherwise unwanted pregnancy, because the life of the fetus is more important than the health risks it poses to the woman.
