So I get that liking watching characters get sent through the wringer is pretty common, I never thought it wasn't. But do other people get that gut-wrenchy feeling, too? Because I've never really seen it described anywhere. It's like my innards are turning somersaults, and I'm all "YES! Punch Chrichton again! I want to walk away from this with a stomach ache!".

Me too. Never worked out how to explain it before though. It's kind if like a jolt. I write original fic too, and I find myself doing it to my own characters too. They must hate me.

Never got on with Farscape though :(

yes, but for completely different causes. For me it's from reading really good, hot slash fic. Man, this is interesting, I had no idea other people got that same weird feeling.
