Yeah, it's the little details that separate the canons. Sideswipe vs Side Swipe is my pet peeve. :p

But I could definitely see how easy that'd be to miss, if someone's new to IDW canon. IIRC Sideswipe and Sunstreaker have been related in every single other continuity they appear in together, to suddenly have one where they aren't might not even register on someone's radar. It's even not terribly clear on the TF Wiki if you're just quickly scanning their entries.

Not trying to excuse it though, that's a pretty significant detail to distinguish that canon and if someone's writing a strictly canon fic they should know better.
