Wait, what? I thought AO3 was at one point planning or had talked about trying to implement stuff for fan artists.

They were planning it. They still are planning it. They will probably be planning it for the next five years. I don't believe they're deliberately stringing us along or anything, it's just that art hosting is a low priority for them, and it shows :/

Do you remember 'Fanart on the Horizon'? Good times. And they still refer people to the feedback post from *checks* April 2010 when they ask about it. I wonder whether those comments are even being read by anyone.

Well they do plan it but it's about six years old and there's not one concrete step taken so I figure it's another five. Not getting my hopes up since they seem set on making the fic support ~perfect~ before even starting developing support for anything else (and of course they'll still boast about their inclusiveness on their front page the whole time). What annoyed me was that the quoted braggy tumblr post phrased it like dealing with shitty hosts is a thing of the past when it's just not.
