I haven't all seen that many adaptations and the majority of them have been mainstream.

Only one I can think that isn't is this 80s anime one called Sherlock Hound. Hayao Miyazaki apparently had a hand in a few episodes. I've only seem the first episode and it didn't really catch my interest. It's basically furry versions of the characters with a plot very loosely inspired by the original.
