More Sherlock Holmes stuff (re: yesterday)

What more obscure (i.e., not Rathbone, Granada, Ritchie, BBC, or Elementary) adaptations are your favorites? Which are your least favorites? Why?

I haven't all seen that many adaptations and the majority of them have been mainstream.

Only one I can think that isn't is this 80s anime one called Sherlock Hound. Hayao Miyazaki apparently had a hand in a few episodes. I've only seem the first episode and it didn't really catch my interest. It's basically furry versions of the characters with a plot very loosely inspired by the original.

The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, which is a BBC Radio show from a few years ago. It's well written and well acted. I've mentioned it here a few times.

The Improbable Adventures " " ", which is an anthology of short stories written by scifi/horror writers. The one be Neil Gaiman is included (haven't gotten to it yet) . A few aren't the greatest, but it's still worth the fifteen dollars.

I've only watched a couple of episodes of various adaptations (I'm A DISASTER when it comes to following a TV series), but the adaptation I've liked the best is Ivanov!Holmes, made in Soviet Russia, which is really close to the spirit of the books.

Omg someone else loves it. It really is brilliant, though with a strange Soviet humour flavour. <3

Also, Livanov's voice. And a drunk Watson.

If we do not count Murder Rooms (which technically isn't a Sherlock Holmes adaptation, but instead a series playing with the real historical background)? I really like the Soviet films with Livanov. They're so full of warmth and light-heartedness, look Victorian, and have a gorgeous-voiced Livanov and a red-haired Solomin!Watson who just happens to not be irritatingly dumb.
I do like the adaptations of The Hound and The Sign of Four with Ian Richardson, mostly due to the fact that Richardson has the best smile ever. In fact, he might be inappropriately cheerful for a Holmes, but I always laugh back when he starts laughing. I just want a friend like this okay.
I... do... in fact.... like The Asylum's Sherlock Holmes. Yeah well. Sue me. It is fun because dinosaurs and a cyborg.

Least favourites? I couldn't stand the adaptation with Tom Baker. It bored me out of my mind. It is not bad, but there is nothing interesting about it whatsoever.
Same goes for A Study in Terror and Murder by Decree. Not bad, no, but I was astonished that somebody could make such an utterly boring production out of Jack the Ripper murders, of all things.
