Masturbation is just one of those topics where being mature and speaking openly might sound good in theory but isn't. Even people who want to think of themselves as sex positive and liberated are most likely going to have hangups if their roommate asks if it's okay to masturbate in the same room as them while they sleep or want to set up a system that will force them acknowledge that their roommate masturbates.

As to your point... So what? Assuming their roommate actually is of the age of 12 (In which case OP I recommend you NOT masturbate in the same room as them) They're going to spread rumours about someone masturbating?
