I really need Pessl or SOMEONE to come up with full synopses of his movies. I remember when there was that brief description of "A Small Evil" (I think that was the title? The beach house one) and it didn't give away what happened at the house and I actually had a moment where I thought "Oh, I'll have to wikipedia that to see what happened" like it was a real movie.

I did the exact same thing. Every now and then I go on IMDB and think of looking up one of those films and then suddenly realize they don't exist..O.o''

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one.
It was such a great book, but it really left me wanting to know more about those movies.
It would have made for an awesome gimmick. Not that the book needs that kind of thing, but how brilliant would it have been to have trailers for those movies as an advertising gimmick? I would have been all over that.
