I just started reading this book this morning! I like it a lot so far and I can't wait to see what's up with Cordova.

But yeah, I can't attest to your secret just yet.

Enjoy!
I only wanted to read into it for work to see if we'd order it, and I ended up reading the entire book in a day and a half because I just could not stop. It was like a rush.

I really need Pessl or SOMEONE to come up with full synopses of his movies. I remember when there was that brief description of "A Small Evil" (I think that was the title? The beach house one) and it didn't give away what happened at the house and I actually had a moment where I thought "Oh, I'll have to wikipedia that to see what happened" like it was a real movie.

I did the exact same thing. Every now and then I go on IMDB and think of looking up one of those films and then suddenly realize they don't exist..O.o''

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one.
It was such a great book, but it really left me wanting to know more about those movies.
It would have made for an awesome gimmick. Not that the book needs that kind of thing, but how brilliant would it have been to have trailers for those movies as an advertising gimmick? I would have been all over that.

God, that is a terrible, terrible cover design. Ignoring the oh-so-generic 'blocky words over generic picture' aspect, I can't figure out where the hell the author's name ends and the title begins.

Is it 'Film: a novel' by Marisha Pessl Night, or 'Night Film: a novel' by Marisha Pessl? (Second anon above seems to have answered that question for me, but still...terrible design.)

It's 'Night Film' by Marisha Pessl. A brilliant book, but I agree, godawful cover.

It does look an interesting book - I might check it out for after I'm finished Perdido Street Station (or perhaps the rest of the Bas-Lag books, depending how I feel once I'm finished PSS)...so kudos to the OP for giving the book some more exposure, where the cover would have just put me off.
