I would think "bullshit." Only very rare people can juggle all those activities, and someone with ADD most likely wouldn't be able to. Besides all that, though, I wouldn't want to read about that character--"pretty but with crooked teeth" is a cop out too.

What are you on about? She's a senior taking three AP classes--I took AP chemistry, AP calculus, and AP German my senior year, so I know that three AP classes are doable; some people take eight or nine over two years. She's in two sports and one non-sport extracurricular, plus a volunteer gig, and she has a summer job. That's actually a fairly modest slate for a high school senior these days, with college admissions so competitive.

da: yeah, but with ADD?

ayrt

Ehh, there's a good chance I have it--at least, I fit the clinical profile enough that a psychiatrist tried to start me on Vyvanse as an adult. And I wasn't quite in the league of this OC, but I did take three AP classes as a senior in high school, belonged to the chamber choir and the orchestra, practiced piano for 1-2 hours a day, and was involved in scouting and a string of other extracurriculars. It worked out in high school because my mother was a SAHM who was also quite competitive, so she had time and was happy to cart me around to all these lessons and activities and micromanage my life. I also didn't have a social life. Of course when I hit college I kind of came apart at the seams. And my mother still tries to micromanage me even though I live half a continent away and will never see 30 again.

See, now that's interesting. An outside influence making the character an overachiever would be worth pursuing, but as it is? I wouldn't want to read about OP's sparkly character.

Also, the AP classes aren't the unrealistic bit. It's all the other activities that do it.
