I sometimes think I was molested by my neighbor. but I don't want to bring it up in case my brain is just making this memory up. He has passed and he was like a pseudo grandfather to us kids, so I don't wanna besmirch his memory for something that may not be true (and happened a long time ago). but then I worry if my memory is true, if he ever hurt my siblings (or his own children).

How is that something you're not sure of one way or another?

Memories are weird.

because I remember the memory, but how do I not know it was from some crazy dream or something? It was only the one memory.

In the memory, I am in his house's living room (we went over there all the time). He asked me if I wanted some candy (he and my neighbor two doors down always had that old people candy like the strawberry things or circus peanuts). I said yes but he told me his hands were busy or full and to just grab it out of his pocket. But when I did there was clearly a hole in his pocket and I touched skin (maybe his penis). I remember jerking my hand away and I think I just went back home for that day. I don't remember anything after jerking my hand away.

So far all I know, my parents were watching an episode of Law and Order or something. Or maybe I heard about it happening to someone else and dreamt about it.

Unless the pocket was in his zipper, or the front of his coat and he had no pants underneath, I doubt you touched his penis. It sounds like he just thought it would be a great prank to tell a child there's candy in his pocket while there's nothing but a hole in it.

If that was the only uncomfortable thing that has ever happened between the two of you during the whole time you've known him, I don't think your worries are justified. I worry more about your own mental state, if you've suddenly began feeling traumatised and suspicious over something that sounds rather innocuous.

Your brain processes things weird when you're younger, and even more so when you've been through a trauma and your defense mechanisms kick in.
