Personal tastes aside, I agree with the tumblr post. It's a HUUUUGE double standard sexist as fuck and while not everything has to be, in your words, OMG sexist, this sure as hell is.

Amen.

This. I would like to say more, but basically, just... this.

I don't like Robin Thicke's song or video, but I also don't agree with the quoted Tumblr that Miley stripped down to express vulnerability. Both videos prominently feature nudity because they know they'll get way more views that way.

Also, plenty of people bashed Blurred Lines. Memory spans must be getting shorter and shorter these days.

+ a billion

i'm not the biggest fan of wrecking ball and the tumblr post is a bit dramatically worded but the sentiment behind it is real. i can see how the constant stream of social justice can get exhausting and annoying for those who aren't that interested but to judge the person who reblogged it for caring about feminist issues isn't cool. unfollow and move on.

EEEEEeeeeeeh, I can't say I agree.

1. Just because a song has arguably deeper themes doesn't make it a better song.
2. Hasn't Blurred Lines been out longer? And it has a lot of publicity behind it. It makes sense that it's currently has more hits.

Fun fact, by the way, apparently Wrecking Ball was really written for Rhianna, but went to Miley instead. So when she says it was written about her relationship, it's kind of bs.

Um....do you have proof of that second statement?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-17 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Same anon. I had an article before, but I can't seem to find it now. Oh well, my above statements apart from that part still stands.
