I once saw someone on Tumblr ranting about how offensive and hurtful it is for Westerners to use words like 'kawaii', which lose all of their deep, culturally important nuances when removed from Japanese things like gothic lolita fashion.

...You know, gothic lolita fashion, which is massively influenced by old European clothing styles.

I couldn't believe how many reblogs that pile of steaming idiocy got.

LMAO that fucking post slayed me.

"pop culture is not for consumption" I will never, ever get over that.

but if it makes you feel better, a lot of the reblogs had discussion about it; plenty of people disagreed with solid arguments.

On the other hand the original poster clearly had issues, wrote/reblogged some post about "fantasizing about killing cishets" and was one of those people who thought that because it offended them people should using the word entirely.
