I loved how many of them flipped their shit because of last episode's "here, have Cecil's full name". There was a lot of "What do you mean, his name's not Cecil Baldwin???!!!" bawwing going on.

Guess what, kids, this is the time where you learn about not confusing an actor with his role.

I was only upset because I would have to change something like 300+ tags.

But then I found an automatic tag changer and stopped caring.

Er...do you happen to have the link to that tag changer? I googled but didn't find anything that worked. (Or maybe I'm just an idiot or the thing glitched on me, because once I gave it 'permission' I saw nothing about changing tags.)

I wanted one for the same reason.

If you don't have it handy though, don't go out of your way to find it again beacause it isn't that important.

I was too. I was feeling really bad for the actor having his name tagged with all that crap going on, on tumblr. I mean, I doubt he cared or would ever know, but it just seemed like a really crappy thing.

I partially wondered if one of the reasons they put out a last name was for the actors sake.

Yeah, actually now that I think about it I'm pretty happy he has a different name than his actor. Makes things easier to talk about.

It irritates me how some BNFs in this fandom are all "BAWWWWWWWW HE'S STILL BALDWIN CANON IS A LIE" no how about you just get over yourself?

Sorry but I am kind of disappointed to have to get used to a new last name after the 'cast has been going for more than a year? Gotta love how there's a lot of smug backlash about it when I never saw anyone insisting Baldwin wasn't necessarily his last name before. Since they gave him the same first name, it followed logically enough that the character had the same last nime (like, you know, Stephen Colbert, real actors do this, it's not like we're a bunch of dumbasses with no grip on reality).

Has no one bothered to consider there might be some Night Vale-esque explanation for his name changing, with whatever weird transformation happened to Cecil? This was actually my immediate assumption and now I'm just minorly annoyed and confused by the whole thing.

Since they gave him the same first name, it followed logically enough that the character had the same last nime (like, you know, Stephen Colbert, real actors do this, it's not like we're a bunch of dumbasses with no grip on reality).

Except that Colbert is a rarity among Danzas. Most characters named for their actor share one name, and one name only (like all of Tony Danza's characters). Usually the first, occasionally the second.
