They (they being the tumblr fandom) are mostly overemotional girls who want this whole thing to just be Cecil gushing endlessly about Carlos for 95% of each episode and not liking anything to happen to their gay babies.

Don't forget everyone needs to be a POC as well or it's whitewashing.

I wish people would actually look up the meaning of that word. I once heard that a Tumblr attacked people for having "too many" white OCs. On a 'whitewashing' blog.

Yeah parts of Tumblr have created their own meaning to words and it just drives me insane. And if you try to even tell them that it's not 'whitewashing' the start freaking the hell out. I actually ended up blacklisting that word and a couple usernames just so I could actually go into the Nightvale tag w/o wanting to stab things.

I was going with the less talked about reason the fandom is crap.

But yeah, this too.

So glad that one shirt didn't win. Feel bad for the artist though, who was legit good. But there shouldn't be such a clearly defined canon. Glad the winner is a lot more vague. (but I wanted Date Night!)

Yeah the art was beautiful, but I'm glad it didn't win too. I really want it to stay vague, I think that is one of the best parts of the show. I won't buy wither of the shirts that won, but I don't think I would of bought any of the designs at all except for a couple as wall art.

And they have to be a very DARK-SKINNED POC, otherwise it's still whitewashing and colorism no matter how many lighter skinned POC get pissed off by that implication. Either color Carlos a certain swatch color or GTFO!

I loved how many of them flipped their shit because of last episode's "here, have Cecil's full name". There was a lot of "What do you mean, his name's not Cecil Baldwin???!!!" bawwing going on.

Guess what, kids, this is the time where you learn about not confusing an actor with his role.

I was only upset because I would have to change something like 300+ tags.

But then I found an automatic tag changer and stopped caring.

Er...do you happen to have the link to that tag changer? I googled but didn't find anything that worked. (Or maybe I'm just an idiot or the thing glitched on me, because once I gave it 'permission' I saw nothing about changing tags.)

I wanted one for the same reason.

If you don't have it handy though, don't go out of your way to find it again beacause it isn't that important.

Not gonna lie, my immediate reaction was "FUCK YES NOT BALDWIN." With a fist pump and everything. Goddamn I am still so stupid happy about that.

I was too. I was feeling really bad for the actor having his name tagged with all that crap going on, on tumblr. I mean, I doubt he cared or would ever know, but it just seemed like a really crappy thing.

I partially wondered if one of the reasons they put out a last name was for the actors sake.

Yeah, actually now that I think about it I'm pretty happy he has a different name than his actor. Makes things easier to talk about.

It irritates me how some BNFs in this fandom are all "BAWWWWWWWW HE'S STILL BALDWIN CANON IS A LIE" no how about you just get over yourself?

Since they gave him the same first name, it followed logically enough that the character had the same last nime (like, you know, Stephen Colbert, real actors do this, it's not like we're a bunch of dumbasses with no grip on reality).

Has no one bothered to consider there might be some Night Vale-esque explanation for his name changing, with whatever weird transformation happened to Cecil? This was actually my immediate assumption and now I'm just minorly annoyed and confused by the whole thing.

Except that Colbert is a rarity among Danzas. Most characters named for their actor share one name, and one name only (like all of Tony Danza's characters). Usually the first, occasionally the second.

You hit the nail on the head there, my friend. The majority of the WTNV fandom is just all about teh ghey. The fandom is total shit.
