I ~want~ to like it more than I actually ~do~ like it.

And I do like, just not as much as I should. None of the characters have really popped for me. I do like Coulson and May (although I do not understand her stance in last night’s episode) and I’m just sort of meh about the rest – thankfully though, both Ward and Skye are getting slightly more nuanced personality/background development. And I feel like I should like Fitz and Simmons more than I do, but they still sort of feel like caricatures to me, rather than actual people. I like the action scenes; they do those pretty well (except for truck vs. van – I mean, honestly, it shouldn’t be more exciting in the commercial than it is in the show). And I’m totally down with the campy, cheesy, flashy thing they seem to be going for in some scenes, I just wish they fully commit to it – I think it would make the show more enjoyable, to me anyway.

But that’s me, you and your parents should have fun watching and you should try to ignore all the dislike – it’s not only sci-fi, but comic book related, and then there’s the Whedon factor, and all three of those things get fans vocal, passionate, and polarized.

OP

Yeah, in retrospect, given the perfect storm of This Will Polarize Fans factors, I probably should have seen it coming.

I hope the show grows more into your own personal happy place so that you can eventually enjoy it as much as I do. :D
