There's always seemed, to me, to be an understood rule of Don't Write Fanfictions About Real Life Political Issues Of The Moment. And I get annoyed with overly political fanfics, so doing it myself would be...not quite according to Hoyle.

I don't know. Maybe I'm biased because I was part of the V for Vendetta fandom and that always had political undertones, even if just fictional, they were obviously metaphors for r/l things.

Not going to lie - you risk annoying people if you get political. But then, there might be a great number of people who'd appreciate it.

I don't think there's anything that's necessarily political about that concept. I mean, yeah, it was caused by some political bullshit, but that idea seems a lot more like it's about veterans/family having access to something that was built specifically for them, rather than the politics behind why they were closed.
