I feel you anon. I get so fucking mad sometimes because it is hard to find good deep friendship fic. Yes, I get it John&Sherlock/Castiel&Dean/Loki&Tony(or Thor)/Stiles&Everyone are super hot together and the subtext is totally obvious, but god forbid they be in a fic together without making out.

I second that McCoy genfic request. Actually, maybe it's just me, but there seems to be a dearth of nuTrek genfic. (Could be that I just can't find it. I only waded into the fanfic archives once or twice looking for genfic, couldn't find it and left.)

I read (at least the summary) of every Leonard Mccoy fic on AO3. Out of all those fics, I only read and bookmarked 6 fics. :( And I read allll the Gen fics.

I'm not into McCoy so much, but I love Star Trek Gen. You should definitely read "Graduate Vulcan for Fun and Profit" if you haven't already.

Well, I can't speak for them but I found that Magnificent 7 has a lot of great gen friendship fic. You can start with Meg Tipper's fics (she also wrote a lot of great SGA genfic!), all action-y and plott-y, and move on from there. I read her fics before I watched the show and had no problem with it. :D

The big archive, Blackraptor, is very extensive, although I have trouble finding fics because it doesn't list summaries, although fics are very well organized by au. Mag7 also has an active and helpful ficfinder community. ^^

I can't speak for the Mag 7 stuff but I totally second Meg Tipper's SGA gen. She has loads of really great stories and they're long and plotty and full of fabulous friendships without secret UST or surprise sex.

There's a Loki, brother of Tony Stark fic that's pretty decent and was updated recently iirc.

Excuse me while I go on a tangent here:

There are so many stories where the authors set up an ansty relationship that end with a sex scene. But what happens after? I want to know how characters X and Y interacts after having done the deed. People who argue with each other or have conflict of ideas with each other don't just magically find a middle ground after a bout of sex. (Unless they have a magical healing cock, then yeah, no.)

And stories that are sex scene after sex scene even though it's supposed to be a plotty story? B.O.R.I.N.G. Unless the scene serve a function to the story (ie X and Y's 100 dungeon sessions or scene where Y shows Y really cares about X) then it's okay. But if there's session after session of sex with no plot advancements, I'm done. Bye.

I WANT THOSE TOO! I enjoy Romance fics a lot but would love more Gen fics.

ANd yes on the sex scene after sex scene. I have been reading some long fics were I start just skipping for the sex scenes, it gets redundant.

One thing that interests me in several of my fandoms (particularly Dean/Cas and Tony/Loki) is how they deal with one half of the pairing being virtually immortal. I WANT TO KNOWWWW!

omg i hate those stories that are just sex after sex after sex. especially when it comes out of nowhere. the other day i was reading an awesome fanfic where two characters (who don't get along in canon) were forced to work together.

....then they randomly got together and had sex. then they had sex again. then they had it again. they had sex for TEN FUCKING CHAPTERS! why the hell would anyone want to read that? by the third chapter i was bored shitless and just wanted to see how the story would end :/
