Yup, yup and yup.

Also: Not seeing a particular deep friendship as "only" [sic] a friendship does not automatically make you a homophobe.

Not seeing a particular deep friendship as "only" a friendship does not automatically make you a homophobe.

Accurate. But, you know, constantly complaining about them gays getting in your fanfic might.

I get the basis for the complaint, but people need to choose their audience better for some of these rants. Not in this particular case, but in general.

...this is what's known as a tangent. The person you're replying to never complained about gays cluttering up good fanfic. So, uh, speaking of choosing your audience better...

No, it's related to the secret. A tangent would be something like "I know, right? And I hate watermelon! *rant*"

(Anonymous) 2013-10-18 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
No, that would be something completely unrelated. A tangent, by geometric definition, touches the original curve at exactly one point!

...Not that this is geometry. But I think of 'tangents' conversationally as something that starts from a point in the conversation and then goes off in an entirely different direction, possibly because I'm a math geek at heart.

Well, in conversation, all a tangent means is that it's hard to see how or why something came up. That something can be completely unrelated to the topic at hand.

Also, you will never know how funny it is for you to be giving me a math term lesson, anon. XD

Agreed, on all points.

Yet complaining about them girls getting in there is not misogyny...?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-18 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
AYRT

Never said that, did I? That's an entirely different problem.
