Right after that I had to get dressed, go to work, pretend I hadn't been wailing and crying and be in charge of people and I've been vaguely humiliated every time I had to sound responsible today.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-18 12:06 am (UTC)(link)I had a tantrum shriek fight with my mom in the Wendy's parking lot when I was about twenty. They didn't let me forget it afterwards for a while. Thankfully it wasn't near where I was living (we were traveling). We used to live in a small town and I had been informed that "people talk" in those towns. I probably would have given up on trying to find a job.

Fortunately it was dark out and we're at the end of a quiet street and the only witness was the dog whose response was to ignore me and go poop.

I swear in that moment I can't tell if I felt more infuriated that I let him win some kind of victory or more righteously fratricidal. I think he knew it too because coincidentally tonight is the first time he's ever volunteered to take an extra shift at work.
