Oh God, I can't even begin to second this enough. I am SO, so, sosososo sick of slashing everything. Assuming close male friends are automatically gay cripples male emotional intimacy, I think--it sexualizes men and objectifies them. I kind of detest the word bromance but I see the need for it--because people DO think there's something weird about men being friends. That's ridiculous! The solution is not to sexualize male intimacy, it's to normalize it. Just, no. Sirius/Remus especially ick me out--canon says they are straight (Remus marries and fathers a child, for God's sake) and there's something so creepy, so smarmily "I know you better than you know yourself" about pushing them into each other's arms. If you want more LGBTQ representation in pop culture then yes, I agree more of that should be written. But most slash has nothing whatsoever to do with that worthy goal--it's just a kink, a means to objectify, just as when guys push girls together to kiss at parties, that has nothing to do with true lesbianism.

Not to mention Sirius was much closer friends with James than with Remus!

You know, complaining about a ship you don't like and its fans is not evidence that people slash everything.

Pretty much your entire comment is a piece of work, but I particularly wanted to respond to: canon says they are straight (Remus marries and fathers a child, for God's sake)

Please note the "B" and the "Q" portions of LGBTQ; the fact that Remus canonically marries a woman and that Sirius has posters of attractive women on the walls of his childhood room does not make either of them unquestionably straight.
