I don't understand why the "not secrets" aren't secrets.

These two on this post fit as fandom secrets. I just wondered about your reasoning to classify them as non secrets.

It's the lack of first person.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-18 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
they aren't phrased as secrets, they're just directly addressing someone

So if NS 2 said "I think Disney made the best version of this," it would be a secret? That seems like a weird qualification, but at least I understand the rules now.

That is my understanding, yes.

It's a bit legalistic at times, maybe, but it's probably best to have clear, definite rules laid out.

I like it, to be honest! Allowing stuff like "____ is such a fucking fuck, s/he shouldn't get any work in Hollywood" is so obnoxious to me. That's why I can't stand secret blogs on Tumblr. I hate when things are stated as fact when they aren't. Simply adding "I think" to the beginning of that feels a lot better in that it seems more like an opinion rather than what absolutely SHOULD be.

I guess that makes sense. It seems a bit more confession-y that way.

this.

I think it's just getting silly to put them in non-secrets when we've got so few secrets to begin with. Most people reading do not care about the majority of the secrets or the fandoms, so why should it really matter if some of the secrets aren't even technically secrets? It's basically just a discussion forum started by anonymous picture submissions.
