Can anyone who's read the book give a brief summary of what happened?

Ooookay, so Nico and Jason go over to Croatia to find this staff that would let Nico control the dead. Basically they needed back up before they went to the house of Hades. There they meet a guy who worked for Cupid. He tells them the story about how he became the spring wind god. (He loved a man that was hanging out with Apollo, got wicked jealous and crushed him to death lol...)

Anywayyyy, to get the staff they had to go talk to Cupid. Cupid says he won't give it unless Nico admits his true feelings. Now, everyone has thought up to this point that Nico loved Annabeth and left camp because he couldn't deal with her being with Percy. And, nope, eh had to admit that he loves Percy. He freaks out a little, and tells Jason not to tell anyone because he feels that it'd be the icing on the cake of no one wanting to be around him. (Son of Hades+from the fourties) Jason tries to tell him it's okay, but Nico wants none of it.

the seven needed to find an item that would help out with the quest, Jason and Nico volunteered. the item in question was under Cupid and Favonius's guard and Cupid extorted a love confession from Nico. it's revealed that Nico fled Camp Half-Blood after Bianca's death not because he was mad at Percy but because he had feelings for Percy which he couldn't deal with.

Nico’s voice was like broken glass. ‘I – I wasn’t in love with Annabeth.’
‘You were jealous of her,’ Jason said. ‘That’s why you didn’t want to be around her. Especially why you didn’t want to be around … him. It makes total sense.’
All the fight and denial seemed to go out of Nico at once. The darkness subsided. The Roman dead collapsed into bones and crumbled to dust.

‘I hated myself,’ Nico said. ‘I hated Percy Jackson.’
Cupid became visible – a lean, muscular young man with snowy white wings, straight black hair, a simple white frock and jeans. The bow and quiver slung over his shoulder were no toys – they were weapons of war. His eyes were as red as blood, as if every valentine in the world had been squeezed dry, distilled into one poisonous mixture. His face was handsome, but also harsh – as difficult to look at as a spotlight. He watched Nico with satisfaction, as if he’d identified the exact spot for his next arrow to make a clean kill.

‘I had a crush on Percy,’ Nico spat. ‘That’s the truth. That’s the big secret.’
He glared at Cupid. ‘Happy now?’
