Yeah, it's strange. If you go to Amazon and read the one star reviews, they say stuff like "I can't honor god and let me child read this!" blahblah. It's about "pagan" gods and the fact one character is gay is the 'ungodly' thing about it? Lmao

Though someone I follow on Tumblr was ADAMANT that it was a fake spoiler when the rumor started making the rounds right before HOH was released. They insisted that it was ridiculous, because Nico was obviously straight and into Annabeth.

That was the saddest chapter in the book. I have never been one to go "Awww, poor dear" to book characters, but damn.

I don't understand how that chapter was a surprise for anyone. Nico had been showing signs in the books since he met Percy of having a thing for him, not Annabeth. I know that Rick tried to throw in some Annabeth red herrings, but it was an obvious case of unrequited love/hero worship/jealousy Nico had going on. If anything, I cheered at being proven right, since Rick didn't cop out with a "strong hero worship" reveal as many types of media would.

I'm not at that part yet in the books, I guess if I was to have an objection it would be because he's a son of Hades so sort of a bad guy, but I've not finished the books so maybe that's not an issue. The bit I'm up to Nico is only about 12 I think. Although I'm sure there's only one more book to go mmm.

Anyhow they are lovely books, shame I hear the films aren't so good.
