I have horrible astigmatism in both eyes, and I only 'feel' my contacts if I've got one in wrong (inside out).

Dry eye - get saline solution. It's cheap. You can get a giant bottle for around $2.00. Put it in a smaller bottle and use. Just remember to keep the saline solution in the fridge (big bottle), it'll keep fresh longer.

I also started out wearing contacts when there weren't any made for astigmatism, and I did okay with them, but it really made a difference once I got my first Toric lenses.
