I've made exceptions because there are writers who could make me interested in gripping emotional stories of potholders bearing baby squirrels to parturition.

And god isn't that the truth. When I started reading fic I could solidly say I did not read X, Y, or Z, but at this point I think I've read just about anything solely due to amazing authors making it interesting and engaging despite my lack of interest in the topic. Authors are wizards I tells ya.
