I... really don't understand why Yuletide can't be about both the "actual" small fandoms and the popular shows of the moment.

Most likely because Yuletide is for small fandoms that otherwise would get no fic/art/whatever.

But they shan't have less fic/art/whatever if fandoms such as Sleepy Hollow are included?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-20 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I expect they would. If artists/writers only choose 3-4 fics a year the inclusion of larger (and likely more popular) fandoms would take away attention from the small fandoms.

Point taken, but I don't think it would be productive to start separating the "more popular" and the "less popular" fandoms within the borders of the already existing criteria.

not op, but it says right on the tin "annual rare and obscure fandoms fic exchange". If your fandom is not rare or obscure, but instead popular, that seems to not qualify.

They have criteria that include the number of fics already written. If a fandom answers all the criteria, I fail to see how it does not qualify.

and I mean "the popular shows of the moment" the way the OP meant it, not just all the popular shows there are.
