I've gotten some painfully stupid reviews on ff.net, but also a number of really lovely, thoughtful ones. Whereas on AO3 I get...total silence. Kudos and bookmarks, sure, but nobody in my fandom seems to actually speak to one another.

Yeah, this is my experience too and one of the reasons why I prefer ffnet to AO3. I also haven't gotten many of the stupid/entitled reviews that people are complaining about on ffnet (I think I received *one* review *once* asking "Pls write one with [this pairing] next pls!") so maybe it's a fandom thing? My fandoms are pretty small and I avoid the popular ones like the plague....

Same here. I really, really think it depends on your fandom, because House fandom on AO3? LOL. Lucky to get one or two kudos. Whereas I normally get several favorites and at least a few comments at FFN, and most of those are really nice ones. Some of the best and most insightful feedback I've ever had was at the Pit.

This is why I finally deleted all my fics at AO3. I couldn't stand the silence. For me fandom = interaction with other fans. I mean, what's the point if you aren't speaking to one another??
