This is kind of off-topic, but it's weird what is considered to be a small fandom. There were about a 1000 people in my last fandom at is peak, a couple of hundred who were really regularly posting things. It was definitely small in terms of numbers (it qualifies for Yuletide easily), but it was constantly active and buzzing and it was rare a day went by without fic being posted and there would always be someone there to discuss stuff with.

While I'd consider a small fandom to be something that has no or little activity... like, a handful of fics, no discussion groups, no sort of collective fandom at all. That's the sort of fandom that Yuletide is truly great for.

I don't really care what qualifies or not for Yuletide, personally- if people think it's necessary for their fandom, then that's fine imo.

That's always been my criteria too. One of my current fandoms is small (probably no more than a couple of hundred people total), but it's very prolific and there are constantly new fics and art being posted for it and discussions going on. I wouldn't consider it to be a small fandom in the sense that it's active and produces a lot of things.

I find it odd that a couple of hundred people in considered a small fandom the days - how times have changed! I remember an old fandom of mine we had probably about 100 regular contributors, but it was very active and not considered small.
