Or maybe it just depends on the fandom. I've gotten a lot of really fantastic reviews on fanfiction.net. Reviews like the ones you're mentioning are something I only get once in a blue moon now. Frankly they just kind of amuse me.

AO3 is almost total silence. I've gotten a few reviews there, but they're of no higher quality than the ones I get on ff.net.
